Who runs Morse Code Translator
Morse Code Translator is run by a small independent team of web developers and amateur-radio enthusiasts. It started as a weekend project: we wanted a Morse translator that translated as you typed, played audio with correct ITU timing, worked on a phone, and did not upload a single keystroke to a server. None of the sites we found at the time did all four, so we built one — and then kept adding the tools we wished we'd had while learning the code ourselves.
What you'll find here
Everything on the site runs entirely in your browser. The translator converts text to Morse and back, with audio, flash and vibration output and WAV download. The alphabet and numbers charts are interactive and printable. The tap decoder lets you practise sending, the trainer lets you practise receiving, and the SOS page covers the one signal everyone should know. The blog has longer guides on learning Morse, its history and its place in culture.
Accuracy
All tools use International Morse Code as defined in ITU-R Recommendation M.1677-1, with standard PARIS timing (a dit is 1200 ÷ WPM milliseconds; a dah is three dits; gaps of one, three and seven dits within characters, between characters and between words). Articles are written and checked by people who use the code; where history is disputed we say so. If you spot an error, please let us know — corrections are made promptly and noted on the page's “updated” date.
How the site is funded
The site is free to use and supported by advertising (Google AdSense). Ads are kept out of the tools themselves and never interfere with playback. We do not sell data, run paywalls, or accept payment for placement in articles. See our privacy policy for details on cookies and third-party advertising.
Privacy by design
Nothing you type into any tool leaves your device. Translation, audio synthesis, WAV rendering, chart generation and practice scoring all happen locally in JavaScript; the only data we store is your own settings (speed, tone, theme, practice score) in your browser's local storage, which you can clear at any time.
